South East Express Network (SEEN) Minutes - April 17, 2008 The Meeting was held at MaKenzie's Restaurant in Pearland, Texas. Registration and networking began at 11:30 a.m. The President, Vicky Reynolds called the business meeting to order. Vicky welcomed member and guests and introduced the officers. Kelly Stallings was introduced as the incoming Vice President of Marketing/Arrangements, filling the position vacated by Bernadette Olivier. The minutes of the March meeting had been pulished on the website and were approved as written. The Financial report was approved by the board and is to be filed for Audit. Vicky announced, with great pleasure, Wendy Cepak is the South East Express Network Woman of Excellence for the Federation of Houston Professional Women. SEEN will be electing new officers in May and a nomination report was given by Wendy Cepak, President-Elect. The business meeting followed by an excellent networking program by Kristin Proctor, Vice President of Programming. Kristin had each member and guest blindly pull a candy bar out of a sack and describe the characteristics of their business based on the qualities of the candy bar. A good - and informative - time was had by all. The meeting ended with the drawing of door prized. This month door prizes were donated by Mryleen Knott, Kristin Proctor and Wendy Cepak, Vicky Reynolds, Bonnie DiNovo and Nan Buchanan. Vicky closed the meeting by thanking all in attendance and encouraging our guests to become members of the South East Express Network. Reports Houston Area Council April 24, 2008 Quarterly Meeting Report - Delegate Kristin Proctor The Houston Area Council of the American Business Women's Association met over dinner on April 24. Delegates from each Chapter and Express Network were introducted as well as guests. During the business meeting, the January minutes and Treasurer's report were approved. The WOY Committee reported they are still seeking sponsors. It was announced there is an upcoming Baytown Chapter. Details regarding the Dallas Leadership Council event were announced. Date is June 28, fee $35. Topics are recruiting, retention and scholarship information. The Excellence & Achievement Award for this quarter goes to WIEN. They have had outstanding growth, primarily from the wonderful education being presented at their meetings. The Council business meeting was followed by a "Communicating with Style" presentation from Ellen Caldwell with Classy-fied Closets and Angela Miller with CAbi.
