South East Express Network (SEEN) - January 14, 2010 Meeting Minutes

The January 2010 meeting of the South East Express Network was held at MiMi's Cafe in the Pearland Town Center. There were seven members present and four guests including our guest speaker, Wayne Springer. President Susan Olson welcomed members and guests.

Business items to cover were the approval and acceptance of the minutes for the November 12, 2009 meeting. A motion was made by Dolores Loyd and seconded by Debi Trahan to accept the minutes as written. Approval by the membership followed. The minutes will be filed for our permanent records.

President Olson called attention to the Agenda and Receipt on the check-in table. This is where upcoming events are listed. Susan encouraged all members of SEEN to attend these functions. Specifically, this month the quarterly meeting of the Federation of Houston Professional Women on Monday, January 25 and the quarterly meeting of the Houston Area Council of ABWA to be held on Thursday, January 28. These additional events help all members maximize the benefits of SEEN membership.

President Olson expressed gratitude to Gaylyn DeVine for hosting the fabulous holiday party on December 11th in her home. The food was wonderful and the camaraderie among the members and guests was delightful. A very special additional treat was the music provided by Vicky Reynolds and Myrleen Knott.

President Olson called attention tot he current issue of the SEEN Scoop available on the check-in table. She also stated that ideas, pictures and articles from the membership are welcome.

President Olson encouraged everyone to register early for the District II Conference which will be held in The Woodlands Waterway Marriot and Convention Center March 19-20. The deadline for Early Bird Registration is February 10. The outstanding agenda will include presentations and workshops on coaching, mentoring, and team-building. More information is available at www.abwa.org Additionally, information on having an Exhibitor's booth is available on the check-in table. Sheri Parrack has been chosen by ABWA National Headquarters to be the General Chair for this conference. Myrleen Knott will serve as the Conference Treasurer and Susan Olson will serve as the Conference Secretary.

Following member introductions, Gaylyn introduced our speaker, Wayne Springer, whose topic was "There is No Substitute for Action!"

A door prize was donated by Susan Olson, the recipient was Dolores Loyd. A door prize was donated by our speaker Wayne Springer, a journal won by Debi Trahan.

President Olson closed the meeting by thanking everyone for attending and encouraging them to attend the February 11 meeting, with speaker Kevin Sunn, PLLC. She also invited out guests to join our growing group. Two of our guests joined as new members!

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.
